Growing up today isn’t easy. Many kids and teens feel overwhelmed by emotions they don’t understand and can’t explain. They may act out, shut down, or seem stuck in patterns that cause conflict, confusion, or isolation. And for parents, it can be heartbreaking not knowing how to help.
Is your child having thoughts like:
- “Why do I feel so angry all the time?”
- “What’s wrong with me, and why can’t I make it stop?”
- “How can I get people to like me?”
- “Why don’t I feel pretty or good enough?”
- “I want to stop getting in trouble all the time.”
Or maybe you're a parent thinking:
- “How do I connect with my child when nothing I try is working?“
- “I want to help, but I don't know what they need.”
- “How do I get my child to open up to me again?”
Raising kids is hard. Being a kid can be even harder. We’re here to help you heal and grow together.

Why Teen & Child Counseling?
Big feelings, social pressure, school stress, it’s all a lot for any young person to handle on their own. Kids and teens face constant pressure at school, online, and even within themselves. Whether it’s big emotions, self-doubt, social struggles, or family stress, these challenges can leave them feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or just plain stuck. And when your child is struggling, the whole family feels it.
That’s where teen and child counseling can help.
It gives your child a safe space to process what’s going on, recognize their strengths, and build emotional resilience with tools and support, so they can navigate childhood or the adolescent phase with more courage and clarity.

We support kids and teens with concerns such as:
Anxiety, worries, & panic attacks
We help kids understand their anxious thoughts and develop calming strategies that actually work. Through teen and child counseling in Palm Desert, they can learn to feel safe, grounded, and more in control.
Depression & low motivation
Whether it’s sadness, irritability, or emotional shutdown, we give kids tools to manage their moods and feel more like themselves. Teen and child counseling in Palm Desert creates a space to explore feelings and build emotional resilience.
Trauma & difficult past experiences
Kids may not have words for what happened, but their behavior often tells the story. Our trauma-informed approach gently helps them feel safe again, process the past, and begin to heal.
ADHD, focus issues, & impulsivity
In child and teen therapy, we support kids with structure, routines, and strategies to improve attention, reduce impulsivity, and feel more successful in school and at home.
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) & behavioral challenges
We help kids recognize patterns, take accountability, and make better choices. With parent support and clear boundaries, kids learn to express themselves in healthier ways.
Anger management
Therapy helps kids notice what they’re feeling before it boils over. We teach them how to pause, name the feeling, and choose a different response.
Low self-esteem & body image
We help kids reframe negative self-talk and begin to see themselves through a kinder, more compassionate lens. Teen and child counseling in Palm Desert supports identity, confidence, and self-worth.
Stress from school, family, or friendships
From academic pressure to peer conflict, we help kids learn to set boundaries, ask for help, and problem-solve with more confidence.
Whether your child is feeling confused, shut down, or out of control, we’re here to help them understand their emotions and build healthier ways of coping.

Our Approach
How Our Teen & Child Counseling Works
We start by building trust, with you and your child
We begin by hearing from both sides. We’ll meet with parents first, then with the child or teen. This helps us understand the full picture and create a safe, collaborative space where your family can start to feel seen, heard, and supported.
We structure sessions to support real progress
For younger clients (ages 0–14), we typically see your child individually every other week and meet with you, the parent(s), during alternate weeks. With older teens, we usually meet with the client three times per month and the parent(s) once per month. This balanced approach helps everyone feel included, informed, and supported throughout the process.
We come together to move forward as a team
Once a month, we bring everyone together for a joint session. These family check-ins help us strengthen communication, celebrate growth, and ensure we’re all moving in the same direction, toward healing, connection, and long-term resilience.
How involved am I as a parent in the therapy or counseling process?
You’re an essential part of the therapeutic process. In our Palm Desert child and teen counseling sessions, we ask parents to participate at least every other week, and often include family therapy to strengthen communication and support progress at home.
Can you fix my child?
We don’t believe in “fixing” children. We believe in helping them grow. Our Palm Desert teen and child therapists work with both parents and kids to create a path forward that involves learning, behavior change, and healing together.
Should my child take medication?
We don’t provide medication recommendations. In most cases, consistent therapy and active family involvement in Palm Desert counseling sessions lead to significant emotional and behavioral improvements.
How long are teen or child counseling sessions?
Counseling sessions for children in Palm Desert typically last up to 40 minutes, depending on the child’s age, focus, and energy level during that day. We try to tailor the experience to make your child feel as safe and comfortable as possible.
Do you have therapists who specialize in children and teens?
Yes! At Resilience Coaching and Counseling, our Palm Desert team includes clinicians who specialize in child and teen mental health, bringing age-appropriate tools and deep experience to every session.
